medallions and knots and stuff on them. The local scout shop has one and I have admired it many times. It's kind of a bragging stick.

One day I came home from school, and my mom presented me with
my own stick! Yeah...She made this! pretty darn cool.
She says she just made up the knots on the back, and it looks sort of braided. She used parachute cord leftover from making those survivor bracelets.
The stick has my ranks on it, and the most recent OA medallion, and the last spot reserved at the top for my Eagle medallion!
My most prized possession. I love it-Thanks Mom. :)
When I asked her how she knew how to do the knots and braiding, she said
"I just knew how to do it, I'm a scout Mom"..
Huh?
I guess its like how she sees everything going on behind her
head without ever looking around.. wierd....

Your hiking stick looks great. I have one of my own with the scouting medallions on it, starting with Bobcat in Cubs. I have all my ranks including Eagle and Ordeal in the OA leading up the front, and adult medallions like Brotherhood in the OA and Silver Beaver down the back. I figure by the time I get back to the bottom I might be ready to slow down my Scouting adventure. I also have several of the Scouting challenge coins wrapped in paracord and attached to my wrist wrap. Scout law, OA grace, Eagle's Promise, ect. Its been with me to Philmont and hikes with Cub dens and Troop outings.
ReplyDeleteYours and my hiking stick look very different from the swag stick Baden-Powell would have used, all the same it's not bragging if you earned medallions. YIB
